A Bill to Introduce a Selection Committee to the Candidate Application for Homecoming Court

February 15th, 2023

  • This bill proposes an amendment to the SGA Election Code to introduce a Selection Committee for Homecoming Court candidates. The Selection Committee, composed of two faculty members, two staff members, and two students, will conduct interviews with Homecoming Court applicants. The two highest-scoring candidates from each category will then be placed on the ballot for a popular vote by the entire student body.

  • Implementing this Selection Committee is important because it adds a structured and impartial evaluation process to the Homecoming Court selection. By involving a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, and using a standardized rubric for assessment, the process ensures fairness and transparency. This approach helps to select candidates based on merit and alignment with University values, enhancing the overall integrity and inclusiveness of the Homecoming Court elections.
